BBC micro:bit

After doing research into a range of different platforms for our project we have decided to use the BBC micro:bit. This is a low cost tiny programmable computer that has been designed to make teaching and learning to code fun. It is particularly accessible to children with an online coding environment that uses blocks that snap together to make learning logic easy. in 2017 one million micro:bits were given to every year 7 student in England and Wales with 90% of those students reporting that it showed them anyone can code [1]. All this suggests the micro:bit will be a great platform to use with children in learning about how they might want to play with IoT outdoors.
